Beauty and the Geek

Beauty and the Geek

Certainly one-upping the social barriers demoished on Punk’d, Wednesday’s premiere of Beauty and the Geek: Ashton Kutcher’s Ultimate Social Experiment, certainly promises to bring together what may perhaps be the most embarassingly funny reality gameshows around.

A hottie and a geek are put together and each week are faced with challenges which get them closer to winning a $250,000 top prize. Guys have to demonstrate some basic social expertise, like massaging the girls (they describe the experience with words like fisting), and the girls have to show they’re more than a pretty face by building baking soda/vinegar rockets and changing car tires.

SLC can really sympathize with UW’s predominately nerdy male population. Winning the girl isn’t easy. Heck, when you’re a gorgeous charmer like the SLC, it still ain’t easy. But as the onscreen romance between a team actually develops, despite this group being some of the dorkiest geeks we’ve met, the rest of us see a ray of hope, that yes, some hottie DO fall for the nerd.

The Sneak Peek is a goldmine. A must see. Hey, wouldn’t Beauty and the Geeks sound better, pun-wise at least?

SLC’s all-time favorite show about nerds and living at the bottom of the social ladder was Judd Apatow’s Freaks and Geeks, which should have lasted longer than it’s short one-season stint.

For us Canadian viewers, it starts on CTV, June 17th. That’s a friday. But I’m sure any UW student who wants to see the show now knows how to hook that up. :)

No chance these girls go for the geeks. Book it! They might make out once or twice for the camera which would be good for the geeks ego. I guarantee, these geeks will go home ladyless. Or they might get one good looking dude, put glasses on him and call him a geek. Maybe he might get lucky. This show is lame.
