It’s a website!

Argh! Someone in Waterloo go talk to them and find out what was supposed to be in the second portion of the letter! I must know!
I picked up the print version of the letter in the store.
The missing bit has to do with family events that made their focus on comics, anime and manga a little less important in their lives.
‘their target market is cheapskates’
Love the grammar there.
The problem is that they did NOT adapt to the market.
You got Magic players coming in and using tables and not buying products? Well nothign is supposed to be free, make a license fee to use the tables. Do something like this:
- 1 Month Table Access - $15
- $1 Discount for tournaments on weekends.
- priority on weekend tournaments.
- .50c MTG pack discount
- One time use for tables - $1.00 gives you two hours.
This is business, if your customers are taking advantage of you, make them pay for it.
Were they really only making .50c a pack profit? I highly doubt it, they could have matched the price of JJ’s. But they were snobby and arrogant. Like when they tried to sell WoW:TCG box for $200.00 and you could pick it up down the street for $120.00?
Business is cuthroat, and if you can’t adapt your customers would shut you down.
You know a business has it rough when even the son of God smacks it down like that.
When players refuse to pay $1 on tournament fees to pay for new chairs because they broke the rest of them, how did you expect us to get them to pay for table rentals?
Mocking our reasons for closing, or a simple spelling error seems childish.
We matched, and beat a lot of JJ’s prices, and certain items that we took on consignment we could not sell at a lower price as it was not ours to sell. Snobby and arrogant, highly unlikely - the outpouring of support, phone numbers, help to close, gifts and cards showed exactly how close we were to our customers.
“Jesus” what exactly did you use as your basis for a character definition of “snobby and arrogant”? Don’t sign your posts “anonymous” if you expect serious consideration for your critiques of what we did and why. A name and an email, and I’ll be more than willing to discuss the matter in person. It’s easy to sign onto a website, and “tell it like it is” when you don’t pay the bills, when you don’t pay the rent, the product cost, packaging costs, travel costs, GST, PST, insurance, security to keep up with those who stole from us. JJ didn’t have gaming tables, ask them why … they made it perfectly clear to us.
If you wish to know what was in the second part of the letter, our grams died, and both of our fathers were diagnosed with cancer this year, previous to Jason’s father’s cancer he had a serious operation that needed to be done before they could even begin his treatment. My father’s cancer surrounds his pulmonary artery! It is a daily battle to deal with the fact you could lose someone so close to you, and yet you come on to kick us when we’re down - perhaps that sort of in person attitude is why you may have got a whiff of arrogance, but when you have customer stopping by more often than not JUST to get some support or shoot the breeze - I have no problem saying, customer relations was NOT one of our downfalls.
I for one was shocked and sad when I drove past yesterday and saw it closed. I loved going there :\
Where am I supposed to go for al my anime watching needs? This was a sad day:(
this sucks eveery time i went to waterloo i would stop for some anime now i don’t know where i’m going to get it. most store don’t carry a 1/4 of what geminijetpack did now i’ll have to find a new store
Well, I had been going to Gemini for nigh on five years. I loved going there, and not just for the anime. I learned to play cards there, made some of my first friends in KW there, and I loved the people who ran the store. They were friends. They were FRIENDLY friends. I don’t know where that “snobby and arrogant” BS comes from. They had a rough time and couildn’t keep it going. I’m sure if they could they would, considering the amount of support they had (if the outpouring of emotion at school was any indication, there WAS a lot of support.) Well, that’s all for me. Here’s to Jason, Wendy and Shelby for contributing to the greatest community of gamer-folk ever!

“Snobby”, “arogant”?! wat the hell is wrong with u “Jesus”?!! I might have not known them as well as most of those other customers, but out of all the hobbie shops, or family buissness shops ive been to, Gemini Jetpack was the best one!! Not just because of the products, but because of the company. They always had friendly greeting with a smile on their face and they also taught me alot about my favourite animes. They also had something that i thought i would only be able to buy online(either that or i never would have found it). If it werent for them, i would have had to really on Anime north or HMV. Now thanx to Youtube and all those other anime websites, they’re out of buissness. Does anyone know what the familly is doing and how they’re doing? Please tell me. Freakn’ Jesus!!
