Jay Peak Weekend

I spent the weekend in Vermont. I eventually learned how to snowboard (kinda), and I’m just now starting to be less sore. Damn faceplants hurt.

Canadian Election Analysis: Urban vs Rural (January 25, 2006)

Puzzlepieces – Canadian Election Analysis: Urban vs Rural (January 25, 2006)
Mike scrapes election data and posts percentage of votes of the parties against population density of that riding. It shows a strong relation of “rural” ridings tending to vote for the CPC, and weakly so more “urban” ridings voting for the Liberals.

Tigers! Oh my!

I spent Boxing Day 2005 at the zoo. It was fun, but most of the animals were on vacation. Thank goodness for Siberian Tigers!

PROTIP: The zoo is freaking cold in the winter.

Egobooster - why Chris no politiks

Last Friday was the last call for nominations for the Feds Executive Committee - UW’s student union thingee. I’ve always wondered if my name was on the ballot but I didn’t do a damn thing how many votes I’d get. It would certainly be an interesting lifestat, don’t you think? But I don’t know if I could handle the narcssism involved. That would just make me feel dirty.

Unfortunately, I guess I’ll never know.

What is with me and my fear of recognition?

You’re silly Chris. Stop it.

Boing Boing: Peeling bananas from the other end is easier
“I’ve been opening my bananas stem-side first all my life. On Friday, David showed me how monkeys open bananas. They pinch them on the other end. Boy, it’s a lot easier. I’ll never open a banana the dumb way again.”

TheStar.com - Editorial: Liberal program best for Canada
“The Liberals are still stirred by the idea that Canada must strive to be not only a richer society, but also a more just and compassionate one. The Star shares that vision. That is why the Liberals are our choice.”
I wonder how this effects The Star’s unbiased journalism.

Fishes!

The MoMA in NYC had a great exhibit on Pixar. The collection of fish was cute.

Crowded Starry Night

The MoMa in NYC features Van Gogh’s Starry Night. The painting gets more traffic than any other piece in the collection, but doesn’t get the same play as the Mona Lisa at the Louvre.
