I´m alive!!!

So, this damn website doesn´t work well in Europe. Sandra, CJ and I are in Barcelona, and we are hot and sweaty and tired. Also sunburned.

Bonus fun, the camera broke about 10 days into the trip, so I don´t think I´ll remember much due to lack of photos. Hopefully we can do the rundown soon.

See you all in a week! Anything hap-happening?

Touchdown, London

I haven’t slept in two days, and I won’t for a while! London is huge and there’s still so much to do! 6 days isn’t enough!!! Miss ya guys.

My plane has taken off. This post should self publish as my plane is taking off from Pearson International. I am flying direct into London, and the “Rudolph the Reindeer” itinerary will take me through some of Europe’s best offerings in 30 days.

On the ghetto travelling scale, I’m quite up there. Nothing but hostels. Eating out once or twice per destination. Sleeping on trains, crashing on a couch in Copenhagen. Our entire 20lb wardrobe on our backs. But the money saved on personal comfort is going to be very well spent on museums, galleries, castles and the occasional night of recreation.

So online Chris is taking a sabatical. The Student Life Centre will be on hiatus until September, unless one of the volunteers feels like chiming in. The MSNing and email will be on the downlow, once a week if I’m lucky. I’m not even sure if I dare to surf my bloglines. I’ll post here just to reassure everyone I’m alive.

I’ll see you suckers in September with a couple thousand photos.

Lychee Jellies: Back with a Vengence!

05_08_lychee-spidey.jpg

I remember a few years ago, maybe five or six, there was this wild craze with these individual fruit jelly lychee cups. A tub of maybe 30 was something like eight dollars and they were juicy, sweet and incredibly refreshing, especially when chilled.

They were addictive too. I could eat handfuls at a time. Even Mu accidentally ate one and it’s against his religion (there’s pork product in the gelatin). Despite the sacrilege, even Mu had to admit they were delicious.

Then one day, all of a sudden, they vanished from the Chinese supermarkets all across town. I never read anything, but was told they were pulled from the shelves for being a choking hazard.

Today, for the first time in all those years, I’ve finally tasted the sweet nectar of lychee jellies once again.

To the best of my memory, the jellies taste the same. Afterall, the lychee flavour hasn’t changed much. But what’s changed significantly is the stiffness of the jelly which encases the fruit chunks. It’s a lot softer and less like a gummy and more like watery Jello.

It’s still good I guess, but just not the same! How could something so delicious cause so much harm?
